Interesting Google feature...

Searching for the primary results lead me to this link, a Google feature that maps what portion of the vote the Democratic nominees were able to attract. What is also interesting is that you can select other state primary results to display from the drop down menu on the left hand side. Very cool.

Wow, Hilary just demolished the primary... and now, things will really get interesting. Voting season always makes me a mixture of excited and anxious.
I will definitely have to take sanity breaks from the media between now and November... so close but so far away. I look forward to seeing what happens in Indiana.

I can't count the number of times I have spun the color wheel as the color combinations were often interesting but just not quite right. I have found that I much prefer a green, blue combination above all others. Concerning my web site subject, I have decided against the many faces of David Bowie throughout the ages. This is primarily because I have no interest in helping to define Fair Use on the web by becoming a case law example.

Ideas for the Final Project

I have been thinking at length about what my final report topic will be and have still not come to any conclusions. I'd like to possibly do a travel focused site, on Belgrade, the Channel Islands or Helsinki. These are all places that really fascinate me, and as soon as I harness this degree to land a job in early 2009 (hold yourself back, Recession!), I will visit them all.
A mitigating factor would be how to secure free image resources on these places. A friend of mine lives in Belgrade, so I could possibly enlist her help.
Another idea would be to focus on books by a favorite author. Or, I KNOW! A chronological exploration of the persona's of David Bowie. My personal favorite: The Thin White Duke. I see we have until the first week of May to turn this in, so I will take some time to mull this over.

And don't tell me you don't know who Janet Leigh is...! She's the reason most of us are still afraid of mamma's boys and taking showers in creepy old motels! Sadly, she appears to be being manhandled by some tasteless City Hall jerks in 1962, only a few years short of women's lib and sexual harassment charges. Sorry, Janet!

A Historical Perspective on Your Education...

While at work today, I found this really cool photograph, which grants an interesting perspective on the history of the iSchool. To some, it might also beg for a joke on getting your doctorate, but I will desist. I have been getting the hang of things at the City Archives and am now scanning, tagging and uploading images at a rate of about 65-80 photos a day. Considering there are tens of thousands more to go, I will have to increase my output. But, lucky for you, I will be sure to post links to the gems I uncover on here.

I started this book over break and miraculously still finding time to continue reading now that the term has started:
The Yiddish Policemen's Union by Michael Chabon
This might be a bad sign that I am failing to prioritize correctly, but alas. I think movie rights are being discussed or have already been settled on which is always disappointing news.
The book is similar to Philp Roth's The Plot Against America, in that it is set in an alternate reality, but will hopefully not have such an abrupt, lackluster conclusion.

Hello. I am really excited for this class as I am highly interested in ramping up my technical skills. I am in the third term of the Masters in Library Science program and have chosen to do a dual major of both Archives and Digital Information Management. I graduate in December, at which point I hope to get a really fantastic job that will allow me to swiftly pay off my student loans and travel abroad at least twice a year. Aim high, as they say.

I will soon be starting an internship working on the Phillyhistory.org project, about which I am absolutely thrilled. As far as my post-graduation career plans, I have a lot of great ideas and paths I'd like to take. Currently, I am interested in pursuing digital libarianship and/or metadata librarianship, and have heavily considered finding work in the private sector. I am so excited for all of the new opportunities having this degree will give me.
